Haiti

Haiti is a wonderful country to adopt from and is only a 1½ hour flight from Miami. You may also opt to have your child escorted to Miami or to your home.
The beautiful children of Haiti are in need of loving homes!  Due to great political unrest and dire economic circumstances, many Haitian children have been abandoned by their parents who love them, but they are unable to care for their children due to the abject poverty that surrounds them. The children are very well cared for at the orphanages with medical care readily available.
Almost all of the infants and children in our Haiti adoption
program  are healthy, both physically and mentally. However, there are several special-needs infants and children for those people who feel called to bless such a child with a loving home.
All infants and children undergo testing for Sickle Cell Anemia, Hepatitis B and HIV before they are proposed to prospective parents.
Unlike in other foreign countries, there is virtually no drug or alcohol abuse among Haitian mothers. Therefore, the incidence of fetal alcohol syndrome or drug addicted infants is virtually non-existent.
In 2003, Americans adopted 250 children from Haiti.

Elgibility Requirements

Only those who accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord can adopt children through Compassionate Care.

Any persons or families who are : 1)  Biblically Christians,  2) At least 30 years of age  (for a married couple one of them has to be at least 30), Married for five (5) years or more,  Single women who are less than 30 years old, but who have a medical certificate stating that they are medically unable to have children.

You can have no more than four children already in your home.

Available Children

Children 0 to 16 years of age are available for adoption.  It is difficult sometimes to have newborn children available for adoption and we hope adoptive parents understand the many reasons.  One of the reasons is that too many parents want to adopt a newborn and most biological mothers in Haiti want to keep their child until they are very sure that they do not have a way to provide for the needs of that child. Consequently, adoptive parents are encouraged to be more open in accepting children in  the age range of 13 months and above.

Adoptive parents who insist on having a newborn child which is 0-12 months old at the time of referral will have to pay an additional fee of $2000, because it costs more to care for the newborns, and their waiting period for a referral may be as long as 2-3 months.

Adoption Timetable

The total process time from dossier submission to the time adoptive parents can travel to bring home their child, averages  eighteen  months.

Referral of a child takes approximately 6 weeks  from  the time of dossier submission.

Parents will receive a picture and an updated medical report on their child monthly.

Travel Requirements

It is preferred  that all parents come to Haiti to escort their children.  Parents need to be in Haiti for only 3 full working days.  So far, all parents who have went to Haiti have had a very positive experience.  However, in extreme cases,  children may be escorted for an additional fee, for parents who for genuine reasons cannot come to Haiti.

Our International Facilitator will greet you upon arrival in Haiti and  assist you in every step of the international adoption process.

They will make the arrangements necessary for translations, visiting the orphanage, scheduling court hearings, and obtaining the paperwork needed to complete your adoption.
